This old mansion called the ‘Samarakoon Mahagedara’, built in 1936 also known as “Walawwa” in Sinhala, belongs to the Samarakoon family. Navin Samarakoon, the 3rd generation, rather than see this piece of history disintegrate and re-built into something modern, decided with Suren De Silva, another relative to restore it complete with modern complimenting amenities. One year and a few sleepless nights later Hideaway was born!
